Cosmos (Cosmos bipinnatus)
One of our favorites, Cosmos germinates quickly, blooms profusely,
transplants well, and is great for cut arrangements. The foliage
is fernlike. Start indoors in flats for early spring blooms.
Color: Pink, white, red Height: 24-40
inches Type: Annual Lbs Per Acre: 15 Seeds
per lb: 80,800 Sun: Full sun Soil: Light, moderately
rich
Planting requirements: full sun; prefers light, moderately dry soil.
Surface sow or to no more than 1/8" deep. These plants can
get almost six feet tall, so we recommend planting in an area where
height is not a concern, and tying plants up or staking them, as
they can get so heavy that they bend. Birds, finches in particular,
love Cosmos seed, so leave the plants standing over the winter rather
than cutting them down.
